Leaked documents recently obtained by The Epoch Times detailed the Chinese judicial system was not in accordance with the law on suppressing Falun Gong in China, highlighting the ongoing tension faced by the spiritual group. Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual practice that includes meditative exercises and moral teachings centered around the values of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance. The practice had attracted 70–100 million adherents by the late 1990s before the Chinese regime launched a nationwide eradication movement against Falun Gong in July 1999. Millions of its adherents have been arrested, sentenced, and detained, according to the Falun Dafa Information Center.
