UK eases sanctions on Russian oil imports as fuel prices soar

The UK government has quietly eased some sanctions on Russian oil to help Britons cope with rising costs.

The move will allow the UK to import Russian crude oil refined in third countries, such as India and Turkiye. Specifically, the government will permit the import of diesel and jet fuel refined from Moscow’s crude in these nations.

This waiver reflects increasing supply concerns over certain fuels due to the effective blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, Britain has temporarily loosened imports of liquefied natural gas from certain Russian plants.
